THE CONCEPT OF MULTICULTURAL COUNSELLING AS BULLYING PREVENTION IN SCHOOLS

Bullying in the school environment is a serious phenomenon and should receive more attention. Bullying still lacks attention from the wider community, so the risk of bullying is still high. This research aims to identify the concept of multicultural counseling as one of the strategies in preventing bullying in schools. Through a literature study approach, this article examines various theories, practices, and previous research relevant to multicultural counseling and bullying prevention. Explore ways in which culturally sensitive counselors can minimize the occurrence of bullying by promoting understanding and appreciation of diversity among students. This approach aims to create an inclusive and supportive educational environment, where students are given the understanding to appreciate diversity and develop harmonious inter-personal relationships. The results showed that multicultural counseling is effective in increasing students' empathy and social competence, two important factors in bullying prevention. Through the development of multicultural expertise among counselors and the implementation of counseling methods that recognize the importance of cultural diversity, this strategy offers significant potential in reducing the incidence of bullying in school settings. The findings of this study are expected to provide guidance for educators and counselors in formulating and implementing effective counseling strategies to reduce bullying, emphasizing the importance of cultural diversity in creating a more inclusive and harmonious school atmosphere.
