About the Journal

Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) will host The 7th International Conference on Cultural Studies and Applied Linguistics (The 7th ICCSAL), formerly known as the Social Sciences, Humanities and Education Conference (SoSHEC), taking up a theme “Culturally Adaptive Futures: Linguistic Innovation, Creative Industries, and Sustainable Education in a Digital Global Era”.

The International Conference on Cultural Studies and Applied Linguistics (ICCSAL) 2026 calls upon scholars, researchers, educators, and practitioners to critically examine the evolving intersections of language, culture, and society in an increasingly complex and interconnected world. As globalization, technological advancement, and cultural transformation continue to reshape the way we communicate, create, and coexist, this conference challenges us to interrogate how language and culture function as sites of power, identity, creativity, and resistance.
From the dynamics of language learning and literacy to the ethical implications of artificial intelligence in cultural and linguistic practice, ICCSAL 2026 invites critical inquiry into the forces that shape human expression and social life. How do digital narratives and emerging technologies redefine cultural representation and literary imagination? Can creative industries and cultural economies empower communities while preserving diversity and heritage? How do sports, disability, and multicultural encounters reveal the deeper structures of inclusion, equity, and belonging?

This conference further challenges us to consider the relationship between culture, environment, and sustainable development, asking whether humanistic inquiry can offer pathways toward a more just and ecologically conscious future. We invite you to engage in this vital discourse, where the study of language and culture becomes a transformative act of building a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable world.
