Analyzing the Demand for Office Hard Skills in the Workforce: Alumni and Industry Perspectives in Indonesia
Insights from University Alumni and Industry Stakeholders
Abstract
This research investigates the hard skill competencies required in today’s office work environment through the perceptions of alumni and industry stakeholders. Using a qualitative approach through semi-structured interviews, this study highlights the gap between the technical skills taught in universities and those demanded by industry. Key findings indicate a strong need for proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and ERP systems. However, academic curricula tend to focus more on theory than practical application. The study recommends the integration of industry-standard software training, structured internship programs, and close collaboration between universities and businesses to align educational outcomes with workforce needs.
