Abstract

The development of e-commerce affects the social life of the community, especially Communication Studies Students, State University of Surabaya because of the features that make it easier for buyers in e-commerce. The purpose of this article is to explain the changes in social life that have changed due to the paylater feature in online stores. This research method is a qualitative phenomenology approach with the research subject of Surabaya State University Communication Studies students, the research instrument uses interview techniques, and secondary data in analyzing responses to social changes and impacts after using the paylater feature provided by e-commerce. The results showed that the changes in the social life of the students of Communication Studies at the State University of Surabaya became more consumptive. However, paylater services on e-commerce platforms make the purchasing power of students continue to increase. There is a correlation between services on purchasing power with a high correlation value and there is a positive and negative influence between paylater services on the purchasing power of students at online stores.
