Abstract

The entry of foreign cultures in Indonesia due to globalization. The entry of foreign cultures is acculturated and
dominates the dominance of indigenous Indonesian culture. Indigenous cultures that are not maintained properly
will be eroded and will be replaced by new cultures that enter Indonesia. In maintaining the original culture of
Indonesia, the younger generation plays a role in filtering out various things that are good and which are bad.
The entry of foreign cultures into Indonesia, makes Indonesian people value the aspects of freedom more highly
than the aspects of morality so that many of them create norms and culture for individual satisfaction and
pleasure. Therefore, this study was conducted to find out (1) the response of the millennial generation to foreign
cultures entering Indonesia, (2) the reasons why the younger generation prefers foreign cultures to their own, (3)
how foreign cultures influence the attitudes and behavior of the millennial generation in Indonesia. at the
moment?. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach through descriptive analysis. The results
show that most of the Millennial Generation have been influenced by foreign cultures so that they begin to forget
the original Indonesian culture and pay attention to the norms of their own society, but some others still maintain
their behavior patterns every day. Hopefully this research can be useful for the community and the millennial
young generation so that they are educated that this original Indonesian culture needs to be considered and
maintained. And can be used as a reference, input, consideration for further researchers.
