Abstract

The anxiety feelings that students feels at the final level of high school in deciding where and how they choose the higher
education, makes students look for various ways to access all the information they needed in preparation. The easier access
in this digital era makes generation z and generation alpha (born over 2000) make social media as a place to find
informations through the various platforms. Social media users in Indonesia, which has reached 194.4 million people,
are dominated by young people from the age group of 13 to 18 years with an internet penetration rate of 99.16%
throughout 2021 to 2022. One of the most popular social media used by the younger generation today is Instagram and
Twitter with Instagram users in Indonesia exceed 70% of users and more than 50% users for Twitter, which is enough
to make instagram as the social media with the most users after whatsapp, while twitter ranked 6th after Tiktok and
Telegram. So, instagram and Twitter are the focus of this study. In this study, the magnitude of the influence of social
media Instagram and Twitter in helping students (currently students) to make choices and steps that must be taken in
the process of this study. By conducting surveys through filling out forms, quantitative and qualitative data were collected
for new students, in the hope that they could become recommendations and inspiration for other students.
