Abstract

This research discusses intercultural conflicts on social media that are increasingly
emerging along with the development of globalization. Social media as a platform for
cross-cultural interaction often becomes a space for tension due to differences in values,
norms, and perceptions. This study uses a qualitative method with data collection through
interviews regarding intercultural conflicts on social media, the spread of stereotypes, and
provocative narratives that exacerbate conflicts. Data were collected from various
previous studies to understand how intercultural conflicts can occur on social media and
in the real world. The results of the study show that intercultural conflicts on social media
have an impact on social dynamics, such as the exclusion of certain groups and the
reinforcement of stereotypes. However, social media also has the potential to be a bridge
between cultures by creating inclusive dialogue and better understanding. Understanding
cultural context, as stated by Hall (1997), is key to reducing conflict. This study
recommends increasing media literacy and promoting diverse content to reduce
intercultural tensions.
