Abstract

Patriarchy talks about a case where men are made the holders of the highest power and dominate roles in various aspects.
Patriarchy deprives women of their rights and freedoms. Women are required to stay at home and handle all household matters,
such as taking care of children, working in the kitchen, and cleaning up the entire household. Although in the past, women's
rights had been fought for by the national hero Raden Ajeng Kartini. But in fact, we can still find patriarchal treatment in
Indonesian society for now. The purpose of this study is to examine the patriarchal culture in people's lives contained in the digital
novel entitled "Patriarchy." The method used by researchers in this study is an interpretative method. The interpretive goal is an
analysis of social reality and how that reality is formed. This novel is told about a woman named Joanna who tries hard to free
herself and her mother, Liana from the patriarchal system of her mother's family. All the time, her mother has been treated
unfairly and unfairly in her family. As the only daughter in her family, Liana is obliged to take care of all the housework and
does not have the power to refuse orders placed on her. Moreover, he was never appreciated and kept getting tantrums. Knowing
that, Joanna became furious and aimed to take Liana away from the house. Researchers convey and raise awareness about
examples of patriarchal actions in people's lives through literary novels.
