Abstract

In this digitalization era, updates on information technology are rapidly developing, one of which is the development of information technology in the field of education, which integrates information technology in the learning process called e-learning. Therefore, we aim to examine the impact of e-learning implementation on improving the academic performance of communication science study program students at State Univercity of Surabaya. With the use of this e-learning platform, we want to know how students' participation in following the learning process and the ease and difficulties faced during the e-learning process can improve achievement or the achievement of learning objectives. Using a qualitative method, this research was conducted with an in-depth literature study to obtain information as a theoretical foundation. Furthermore, this research involves an interview process with communication science students at State University of Surabaya to gain perspectives on their experiences during online learning and their academic performance. E-learning allows students to get access to information related to educational resources without space or time constraints, which can improve their academic performance. However, there are challenges that need to be overcome by students, namely the lack of students' skills in mastering technology, limited supporting tools and internet access, and a lack of motivation to learn independently. For this reason, the Universitas Negeri Surabaya community needs to continue to evaluate the implementation of e-learning in the learning system so that students can make the most of technological advances to improve their academic performance.
