Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of the behavior of the people of Tambaksari Village, which is at the foot
of Mount Arjuno, less in paying attention to the carrying capacity, preservation, and capacity of the environment. one of
these behaviors, namely in dealing with household waste whose management is carried out by the burning method. This
phenomenon will have an impact on air quality. So the purpose of this study is to find out how the community's
participation in environmental conservation through the waste bank program, there are 4 stages of participation in this
waste bank program, namely the stages of participation in decision making, stages of participation in program
implementation, stages of participation in benefit making, and stages of participation. program evaluation by linking to
environmental sociology studies. The method used in this study uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques
through observation, interviews, and documentation. The perspective used in this research is the perspective of
environmental sociology. The results of the study show the process of the Tambaksari Village community in
empowerment through the Agrapana Waste Bank program which will be able to improve the residents' economy, can
have a positive impact on residents to carry out clean and healthy lifestyles, preserve the environment, increase income
with savings for Agrapana Waste Bank customers, creating new jobs, creating a sense of harmony in socializing for the
community and making Tambaksari Village a role model for other villages.
