Abstract

The Islamic boarding schools appeared around 300-400 years ago and reach almost all levels of the Indonesian Muslim
community. Islamic boarding school education became more organized and its curriculum became better when Indonesia
achieved independence during the New Order. is a report on religion-based education which aims to instill knowledge, morality
and mysticism in students. The aim of this research is to gain a deeper understanding of the teaching methods provided by
Islamic boarding schools to their students with the aim of instilling good morals while maintaining the main goal of educatio n
that uses a religion-based curriculum. Using qualitative methodology, research aims to describe and analyze phenomena, social
activities, events, attitudes and beliefs of individuals and groups. This research collects data from relevant articles, jour nals,
books and websites. The result is that people in Islamic boarding schools are continuously educated to behave with noble
morals, both towards religion and towards fellow humans. Apart from that, the moral development strategy for students consists
of various components, such as example, coaching, habituation training, advice, discipline, sanctions, praise, and independence
