Abstract

Plastic waste is an important environmental issue that continues to grow every year. Pollution from plastic waste can pose health
hazards and lead to natural disasters. To address this problem, awareness of reducing plastic usage is key, and social media,
particularly Instagram, has become an effective platform for plastic waste reduction campaigns. Instagram enables individuals,
organizations, and governments to disseminate information, educate, and change behavior through various content. The
effectiveness of Instagram as a platform for plastic waste reduction campaigns can be analyzed by specifying campaign goals and
methods. Therefore, the aim of this research is to identify which Instagram features are more effective for campaign delivery. This
article employs a qualitative approach, where evidence is not reliant on mathematical logic, numerical principles, or statistical
methods. The qualitative research objective is to understand human behavior and analyze its qualities, rather than converting it
into quantitative entities. Data collection methods used include literature review, with sources from 2 thesis titles and 4 article
titles. Data is analyzed using thematic analysis, where patterns in the phenomena are identified either inductively from raw
qualitative data or deductively based on existing theories or research. Instagram has proven to be a highly effective tool for
environmental campaigns. From the author's research findings, it is concluded that there are several ways to deliver campaigns
through various Instagram features, such as posts, users, captions, and account profiles. Among these features, posts are found to
be the most effective medium for campaign delivery based on the identified themes.
