Abstract

The instituion of Indonesian National Police is currently receiving a lot of spotlight due to the large number of individuals
who have committed disgraceful acts. It is no longer a public secret that the 'depravity' is being carried out by the police.
Moreover, the Ferdy Sambo case has even become a topic of discussion for netizens. The case of Ferdy Sambo was
previously known as the case of Brigadier J. However, as time went on, this case changed its context after the truth was
slowly revealed by investigators. Starting from the narration of 'Police Shoot Police' to 'Police Murder by Police' this
creates many perceptions from the public about Polri. This makes the image of the police increasingly tarnished so that
public confidence in this institution decreases. The purpose of this study was to determine student perceptions of the image
of the police institution in the case of the murder of Brigadier J by Ferdy Sambo. The type of research used is descriptive
research with a qualitative approach. The result of this research is that the police are still needed as the authorities and
security institutions in Indonesia. However, with their current image, students demand improvements internally,
externally, and even structurally. Students need proof that the police have changed.
