Abstract

This study aims to reveal the meanings contained in Macapat songs, especially Kinanthi songs. This study method is a qualitative type
with semiotic study techniques using analytical methods by examining the meaning contained in the object. The results of the study found
the meaning of moral messages from 11 types of Macapat songs, in order including Maskumambang, Mijil, Sinom, Kinanthi,
Asamarandana, Gambuh, Dhandanggula, Durma, Pangkur, Megatruh, and Pocung. The relationship between the 11 Macapat songs is a
representation of the stages of human life from the womb until humans reach the end of their life (die). The conclusion is that the meaning behind
the Macapat song is a reminder of one's awareness of one's origins and becoming a true human being who always includes God in every step.
