General elections are a manifestation of the mandate contained in the 1945 Constitution of the
Republic of Indonesia Article 1 paragraph (2) which states that "Sovereignty is in the hands of
the people and shall be exercised according to the Constitution". The purpose of this study is to
determine the characteristics of election violations in Blitar Regency and how Bawaslu's role is
to prevent future election violations. The method used in this research is normative legal
research, normative legal research methods or library law research methods are methods or
methods used in legal research by examining existing library materials. Election violations are
acts prohibited by the Election Law against election organizers which result in the imposition
of sanctions for these violations. The enactment of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General
Elections regulates various types of violations, disputes, criminal acts and election disputes.
Election crimes are criminal offenses that are punishable by certain penalties under the criminal
justice system. The purpose of elections is to implement the sovereignty of the people and the
realization of the people's political rights to produce leaders who will occupy important
positions in government.
