This research investigates the communication patterns of Generation Z through Instagram Direct
Messages (DMs) to their idols in the context of today's digital culture. With the growth of social media,
Instagram DMs have become the primary means for Generation Z to express their appreciation and
connection to their public idols. The research methodology involves text analysis and online surveys
to understand how Generation Z utilizes Instagram DMs to build and maintain relationships with their
idols. The research findings indicate that Instagram DMs facilitate direct interaction, enabling fans
to send positive messages, share relevant content, and even receive responses from their idols.
However, privacy constraints and communication misuse also emerge in this context. This study
explores various aspects of these communication patterns and their implications for the evolving fanidol dynamics in the digital era. The results of this research illustrate the significance of Instagram
Direct Messages in shaping the relationship between Generation Z and their idols, highlighting the
positive role played by social media in connecting fans with public figures. Additionally, this research
also underscores the challenges that need to be addressed, including privacy and limitations within
these communication patterns
