Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has created a growing need for innovative learning approaches in primary schools, including in Arts and Crafts (SBdP) education. One relevant approach is the integration of Computational Thinking (CT), a computational problem-solving mindset that develops students’ ability to solve problems systematically, creatively, and logically. This study aims to analyze the implementation of CT in SBdP learning and its impact on enhancing students’ creativity. The study employed a qualitative research design using a literature review approach complemented by limited classroom implementation in Grade 4 of a primary school. The findings indicate that the integration of CT principles—decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithmic thinking—can be effectively applied through SBdP activities, such as digital drawing, creating simple music patterns using applications, and designing crafts with the support of technological devices. The implementation of CT in SBdP learning was found to enhance various dimensions of students’ creativity, particularly fluency, flexibility, elaboration, and originality. Therefore, integrating Computational Thinking into SBdP learning not only strengthens students’ technological competencies but also fosters creativity, imagination, and problem-solving skills in line with the demands of 21st-century education.
