This study aims to analyze the transformation of Social Studies (IPS) learning in primary schools through the use of animated media and educational games as innovative approaches to strengthening students’ conceptual understanding. The study addresses the need for Social Studies learning that is not only innovative and interactive but also effective in developing students’ deep and meaningful conceptual understanding in response to the demands of the digital era. The research employed a literature review method by examining various scientific articles indexed in SINTA, nationally accredited journals, international journals, conference proceedings, and scientific repositories published between 2015 and 2025. The data were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach. The findings indicate that the use of educational animation and educational games as learning innovations can transform Social Studies learning in primary schools into a more innovative, interactive, engaging, and contextual learning experience. Animated media and educational games also play an important role in strengthening students’ conceptual understanding through material visualization, interactive simulations, and active engagement in the learning process. Furthermore, animation and educational games are aligned with technological developments and students’ learning needs in the digital era, making them effective alternatives for addressing the limitations of conventional learning. Therefore, integrating animation and educational games represents a promising strategy for improving the quality of learning while strengthening students’ conceptual understanding in Social Studies at the primary school level.
