Application Of Surabaya Batik With The Sparkling Remo Theme In Ready-To-Wear Fashion

Abstract

Surabaya batik is unique in its motifs, often inspired by local cultural heritage, such as the Remo Dance, flora, fauna, and iconic city landmarks. This study aims to apply batik motifs with the theme "Sparkling Remo" to ready-to-wear fashion, combining traditional elements with modern, functional designs. The theme "Sparkling Remo" was chosen to represent the dynamic spirit and courage characteristic of Surabaya, as reflected in the city's slogan, "Sparkling Surabaya" The approach used in this study includes exploring Remo Dance motifs, the batik design process, and its application to ready-to-wear garments. The analysis considers fashion trends, market demands, and aesthetic values. The results show that the application of this motif not only strengthens local cultural identity but also enhances the appeal of the product in modern fashion markets. This study concludes that innovation in culturalbased batik motifs, such as "Sparkling Remo," holds significant potential to support the development of the creative industry while promoting local cultural wealth nationally and internationally. Ready-to-wear fashion with Surabaya batik motifs is expected to become a product that is not only aesthetic and practical but also rich in historical and philosophical value.
