Abstract

Fire is one of the emergency events that has a serious impact on life safety, material losses, and environmental sustainability. In this context, the Surabaya City Fire and Rescue Service has a vital role in responding to incidents quickly and appropriately. This study aims to analyze the influence of the work environment and work discipline on employee performance in the agency. The method used is quantitative with data collection through questionnaires distributed to 100 employees from a total population of 123 employees. The results of the study indicate that a conducive work environment, both physically and socially, has a significant effect on improving employee performance. In addition, work discipline demonstrated through compliance with procedures, responsibility, and leadership role models also provide a positive contribution to employee performance. Simultaneous tests show that the variables of the work environment and work discipline together have a significant effect on performance. While partial tests strengthen the findings that each variable has a positive and significant effect individually. The conclusion of this study is that the work environment and work discipline are two main factors that support improving employee performance in the Surabaya City Fire and Rescue Service. Therefore, it is recommended that the agency continue to improve the quality of the work environment and enforce discipline consistently.
