Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of work environment and compensation on employee retention, both partially and simultaneously, among sales force employees at PT. Berkah Sekawan Abadi. This research uses a quantitative approach with a saturated sampling technique involving 50 contract sales employees as respondents. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS software. The results show that work environment has a positive and significant effect on employee retention (regression coefficient = 0.348; t = 2.905 > t table = 2.012; sig. = 0.006 < 0.05). Compensation also has a positive and significant effect on employee retention (regression coefficient = 0.508; t = 3.513 > t table = 2.012; sig. = 0.001 < 0.05) and was found to be the most dominant variable. Simultaneously, work environment and compensation have a positive and significant effect on employee retention (F = 109.620 > F table = 3.20; sig. = 0.000 < 0.05), with an Adjusted R Square of 0.816, indicating that the two variables explain 81.6% of the variation in employee retention while the remaining 18.4% is explained by other variables outside this study. This research is expected to serve as practical input for the company in formulating human resource policies to improve the retention of its sales workforce.
