Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Extrinsic Motivation and Transformational Leadership on the Performance of Employees in the General Protocol and Leadership Communication Section (Umprokopim) of the Surabaya City Government. This type of research uses a descriptive quantitative method. The population of this study consisted of 65 employees of the Umprokopim Section. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling. The number of samples used was the entire population, namely 65 respondents. Questionnaire data collection was conducted through the indirect distribution of questionnaires using Google FormsForms. The analysis method employed was the multiple linear regression method, using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26.0 Software. The results showed that extrinsic motivation had a positive and significant effect on employee performance, and transformational leadership also had a positive and significant impact on employee performance. Based on these three results, the three hypotheses are correct and acceptable.  The implications of this study suggest that it is necessary to enhance employee extrinsic motivation by optimising salaries and incentives, as well as refining transformational leadership styles to boost employee work motivation through inspirational leadership, thereby improving the performance of Umprokopim employees in Surabaya City Government.
